Client:

Our client a leading Multinational Semiconductor Company requires Senior Design Engineer with Digital/Baseband background for role in Dublin City Center, Ireland.

Role:

You will be responsible for the design, implementation and block verification of DSP baseband blocks and various subsystems. Work as part of a cross-functional team to deliver the next generation products from concept to volume production.

Support concurrent engineering activities to ensure on-going production of quality products with high yield. Support applications team to maximize revenue from current products.

 

Responsibilities:

Design:

  • Actively contribute to the generation of product specifications (block, sub-system and IC level)
  • Design and document digital/DSP baseband/system blocks as required using low power RTL coding techniques
  • Perform design verification of relevant blocks/subsystems
  • Work with the verification team to specify verification requirements for your designs
  • Work with IC physical designers on synthesis, power optimisation, formal verification and timing closure
  • Ensure that designs follow industry best practice design flows, verification techniques, Design For Test (DFT) and quality process adherence
  • Create the necessary design and product documentation and host design reviews

Test:

  • Develop test specifications and coordinate with test/product engineering to drive product releases
  • Execute plans and develops test procedures
  • Actively participate in silicon bring-up and characterisation testing

Interpersonal

  • Interact with other engineers in the verification, systems and RF/Analog teams to ensure products are delivered to meet or exceed specifications, on time and where applicable within budget
  • Support IC Applications team in solving customer issues and solving and anticipating potential issues
  • Support concurrent engineering teams to ensure issues with current products are resolved in a timely manner and to ensure their on-going high yield in volume production

Main Goals

  • Deliver timely digital/baseband design following roadmap or priority product / customer current issues
  • Produce high quality digital/baseband IC systems/sub-systems using industry best practice methods for design, verification and test according to project plans
  • Actively participate in developing ICs targeted for high volume by collaboration with the entire product team
  • Define efficient testing methods
  • Actively support concurrent engineering activities e.g. continuous yield improvement
  • Actively support applications engineering & sales teams to increase revenue
  • Provide relevant documentation including design, product, test

Complementary/Interdisciplinary Tasks

  • Mentor junior engineers and share IC skills/experience with other members of the team
  • Provide training, sales collateral, application notes as necessary

Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of the complete Digital ASIC Design flow (specification, front-end RTL Design, Verification, STA, DFT and physical implementation)
  • Good working knowledge of DSP concepts used in modern communications systems
  • Implementing fixed point algorithms in to RTL.
  • Low power IC design techniques
  • Complete IC Design Flow: IP Evaluation and Selection, Analog/Digital partitioning in mixed-signal systems
  • Familiarity with designing in CMOS 40nm or less nodes
  • System Verilog and Verilog
  • Matlab
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative to come up with innovative solutions
  • Good communication skills, verbal & written

Qualification/Education:

Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering or related field and 8+ years of experience in relevant product development preferred
