.NET Application Support Engineer

Overview

The Role:

My client operates a complex mission critical high volume transactional business which uses Microsoft technologies to facilitate online trading over the web.

The Technology 
The systems are delivered using Microsoft .Net, IIS and Web Services, MSMQ, MS Clustering and MS SQL Server. An expert and in depth working knowledge of the technology in this environment is required.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide technical Production Support Management for large complex application
• Maintain a high performance Production Support Team Ensure all SLA’s with business and clients are met.
•   Be responsible for all aspects of problem management including minimizing downtime, issue escalation & resolution, root cause analysis, as wells co-ordination & communication will all relevant stakeholders.
•   Proactively monitor overall Production Support, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plans as appropriate. Be proactive in monitoring trends and instituting continuous process improvement.
• Ensure appropriate capacity and performance monitoring and review processes are instituted and executed.
• Will be required to work in a support rota covering weekends and on-call out of hours.

Role

Knowledge & experience:
• The ideal candidate will have 5+ years technical experience in the core technical skills listed above.
• Good technical debugging, problem solving and problem management skills required. 
• A proven ability as a self-starter and initiate product/process improvement ideas. 
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Strong commitment to a cooperative team approach
• Lead and deliver projects - Good planning and organisational skills. 
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Experience in managing risk and control within the IT operations of a financial trading environment.

Core Technical Skills: 
• IIS 6 & 7.5 Configuration & Administration 
• Windows 2003/2008R2 Server 
• SQL 2005/2008R2/2012
• Working knowledge of Web services 
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals.
• T-SQL Coding

Preferred Technical Skills:
• MS Message Queue
• Windows Clustering
• Working knowledge of Windows Services 
• Scripting Skills (VBScript, Jscript, Powershell etc.) 
• Microsoft MCP/MCSC
