Over the last year, we have aimed to write informative and helpful articles to help you get the best job possible in the IT sector. Public voting continues until August 23rd (click here if you’d like to vote for us), with the awards to be announced on September 15th.

It’s been a great 12 months for Software Placements and we have successfully placed candidates in a wide range of positions including software engineers, quality assurance testers, technical writers, data engineers, UI developers, coders in Java, Python, DotNet, Javascript, Ruby, Scala and other languages, as well as many other roles. Insider tips from our recruitment advisors

Over the last year, we have aimed to write a series of helpful and informative pieces to help inform potential job seekers in what our recruiters are looking for. This has included tips from Laura Boland on what is needed for a successful Quality Assurance candidate. Michael Diver shared his insights on what recruiters look for in successful Software Developers, and Steven Latchford shared his twenty years of experience in Information Security recruitment.

Advice and tips from previous successful candidates

To help you on your career path we also spoke with several people who had successfully been recruited by us and are now happily working in Ireland in their new roles in IT. Each of them had their own words of advice and tips for other people looking to move to Ireland to work here. Mikhail is a Software Developer from southern Russia and shares his story here. Daniele came from Brazil to work in Ireland as a Software Tester. Marko moved from Zagreb, Croatia to come here to work as a Ruby on Rails developer. Fedrico came from Italy to work in Ireland as a Network Security Engineer and shares his insights here.

Resources to help you to settle in Ireland

For those that have moved from another country, either inside, or outside the EU there are many common minor details to resolve to enable you are able to work and become a resident in Ireland. Software Placements are also putting something back into the coding and IT community.

Software Placements believes in putting something back into the software community, and to that end, we have been involved in sponsoring a number of local initiatives to support new developers and entrepreneurs. CoderDojo is an exciting project to teach kids to code and Software Placements have been actively supporting their initiatives. Similarly, Software Placements have partnered with Dublin Beta and Startup Grind to support the Irish startup scene and encourage the next great Irish technology companies to emerge.
